Ice Update Lake Ice Closed Effective January 20, 2025

Due to the intense cold and the temperature swings, we’ve experienced over the past few days and will continue to see as conditions warm up the ice is shifting and cracking significantly. As a result, the lake ice will remain closed for skating until further notice. We are hopeful that this will only be a short pause in skating activities.

However, the lake is still open for foot traffic and ice fishing. We encourage everyone to proceed with caution and stay mindful of shifting ice conditions while enjoying these activities.

Our team has been working hard to repair the cracks to minimize safety hazards, but the extreme cold has posed additional challenges. When the temperature with wind chill drops below -25°C, there’s a significant risk of hydraulic systems freezing, making it unsafe to operate our equipment. Unfortunately, this meant we were unable to conduct maintenance over the past few days.

Now that conditions have improved, we’ve resumed normal operations and are working diligently to get the facilities back open and operational as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate these challenges.
